Late Summer Track Day - August 31, 2023

With the challenges of the pandemic in our rear view mirror, our late summer CCC Track Day at Summit Point Motorsports Park saw another sold out attendance and, in fact, we had to close registration two weeks before the event.  127 drivers, crew, and general hangers on spent a day of
driving, exchanging stories and socializing. Credit to both Ben P., our fearless head instructor and his team of instructors for running the event without a hitch. Our thanks to Ben S, Wayne and Donny for running a flawless tech inspection, Joe for skills as our Master of Ceremonies and of course, Leslie, Jackie, Kevin, Eric, Eric’s friend, and Shaun for handling registration.

No music at the Reception this time but the usual assortment of awards that are given to those lucky, or unlucky, recipients in recognition of their driving skills (or lack of them!!!!). We must also thank the stalwart members of the Morgan Car Club of Washington DC for attending. They
promised to be back in strength in the spring.

Thanks to all our amazing sponsors who continue to support our event, notably Aston Martin Washington DC, McGuireWoods, Eurosport Auto Care, Xibitz, DFS Construction and our newest sponsor, 89X Motorsports.

The event raised over six thousand dollars for the Annapolis Trust and as well as providing financial support for the Trust students attending university, we are pleased to announce a new program for 2024.

Last summer, in partnership with a UK non profit called Challenges Abroad, the Trust provided two students from Bowie State University with a full scholarship to participate in a UN initiative development program in Cambodia. They spent the month of August helping teach school-aged Cambodian children in STEM, Creative Arts, and English disciplines, who lived in villages near the city of Battambang. The partnership aligns perfectly with the Trust’s vision and mission of empowering students to become thriving global citizens.

The letter from one of the students, Tanar Moses, is a testament to her experience and confirmation that exposing, expanding, and providing our youth with global experiences are indeed life changing.

We intend to send four students on this program in 2024, so keep an eye open for more details.
