Fall Track Day - October 19, 2018

The Colonial Challenge Cup Inc returned to Summit Point Motorsports Park in October for its second CCC Track Day event of the year..  The “weather Gods” looked favorably once again.  All entrants drove home in the car that they entered, more or less, and we would like to thank our stalwart drivers for turning up and a warm welcome to over thirty new participants.

Chip Herr successfully defended his position as “Fast Lap” champion, just pipping former champ’ Lawson Wilder by under a second.  Chuck has promised to return for a threepeat on April 12, 2019.  Ben Sarli entertained some trepid souls with his 500 HP four seater BMW, drifting through the turns 5, 6, 7 & 8.  He also brought his NASCAR replica go kart.  (Jackie: please could you place Glen’s photo of the car in the paddock here). All comers were able to compete against the clock over one lap of a specially concocted course in the paddock by the name of “Watkins Ben”.  Once again Chip showed his talent behind a wheel just beating gallant efforts by Jackie Dee and Emily Houston.

Our thanks to Bob and Brad of Etechphoto for photographing the event.  For those of you who would like to purchase a photograph of your car, you can go to the following link: https://www.etechphoto.com/2018/Cars/101918-Colonial-Cup-Challenge

Our sincere thanks to our sponsors; DPR Construction and Hyper Bicycles.  Funds raised will provide support for two students to attend college next year.

The next CCC Track Day will be at Summit Point on April 12, 2019. Register here!
